Business Architect

Location: Watford (hybrid, 3 days on-site)
Engagement: Permanent
Package: £80,000 to £90,000 including car allowance, plus bonus and benefits

A Business Architect role with a major construction and development group, owning the target state for core business capabilities with real design authority over how change lands. It's a newly formed business architecture team, so you'll help shape the practice as well as the designs.

About Our Client

Our client is a major international construction and development group with a large UK business delivering complex building and infrastructure projects. They are investing seriously in digital transformation and have built a dedicated business architecture capability within their technology function. This is a permanent hire with a long-term remit, not a single programme.

What You'll Be Doing as a Business Architect

• Owning the current and target state for your capability domains: capability maps, value streams and operating model views people actually use
• Acting as design authority, reviewing change proposals and making clear calls on whether they move the capability forward
• Turning strategy and business plan priorities into live, sequenced capability roadmaps
• Shaping business cases and initiatives at the point of definition, alongside change leads and business analysts
• Joining up process, data and technology across adjacent domains, and resolving design conflicts early
• Running design workshops with senior stakeholders and making architecture clear to non-technical audiences

What We're Looking For From The Business Architect

• Hands-on business architecture or operating model design: you have built capability models and value streams yourself
• Process architecture experience at L1 to L3
• Time in a design authority or architecture review role with real sign-off responsibility
• A track record of designing joined-up change across people, process, data and technology
• Confidence influencing senior leaders on investment and priorities
• Construction, infrastructure, utilities or another asset-heavy or regulated sector is a strong plus

Qualifications

• TOGAF, BIZBOK or similar certification is a plus, not a requirement
• You must be eligible for UK security clearance
